RELEASE DATE: January 20th
Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Gray Phillips is at a crossroads in his life: stay in the Marine Corps or get out and learn to be a civilian? He’s got forty-five days of leave to make up his mind but the people in his life aren’t making the decision any easier. His dad wants him to get out; his grandfather wants him to stay in. And his growing feelings for Sam Anderson are wreaking havoc with his heart…and his mind. He believes relationships get ruined when a Marine goes on deployment. So now he’s got an even harder decision to make: take a chance on Sam or leave love behind and give his all to the Marines.
Twenty-two year old Samantha Anderson lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan just two months after their vows. Two years later, Sam is full of regrets—that she didn't move with her husband to Alaska; that she allowed her friends to drift away; that she hasn't taken many chances in life. Now, she's met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?
Note: Although these books are part of a series, they do not need to be read in order
After reading the first two books in this series, I didn't think I could love anyone more than I did Noah and Bo, but I was wrong. Oh, my gosh, Gray! Where do I even begin to describe this guy? He is the ultimate Marine, the ultimate Alpha hero, and he talks dirty like nobodies business! The things he says to Sam would turn a saint into a sinner in a heartbeat. They are deliciously dirty and they're not just words because he can back them up. Big time. Everything he says to Sam is a promise and this guy can sure deliver on a promise, let me tell you! So he's not all talk - he's also a man of action. Which makes things difficult in a variety of ways because he's at a crossroads in his life, debating his future, and takes an extended leave from the military to try to sort things out. So where does he go? To visit his good friends Noah and Bo, of course. He doesn't plan on getting involved with anybody while he's there because A) it's temporary and B) he was royally screwed over while deployed by his girlfriend of four years. So he has a problem with commitment and feels very strongly about people who cheat on their partners. That doesn't mean he doesn't intend to hook up while he's there; he just doesn't want to get involved in a relationship. But all bets are off when he meets Sam. He wants her the minute he sees her, so he goes after her, they share a pretty intimate moment, and then things go awry when he misinterprets a situation. Still, he can't stop thinking about her, so he pursues her. And Sam - poor thing, she has her issues herself. Widowed young, she vows never to get involved with a military man again, but Gray comes along at the right moment and stirs her up. It's been two years since her husband died and she's finally ready to get back out there, so when she's approached by Gray, she takes a chance and goes for it. This is just the beginning for these two in what proves to be a rollercoaster of a ride. They have a lot of ups and downs, a lot of things in their pasts to overcome, if they want to be together. It's an amazing journey to go on.
I have to say that I really, really liked the first book, Undeclared. I really loved the second book, Unspoken. But I am in love with this book, Unraveled. In my opinion, this series gets better with each book and this book is the best of the three (sorry Noah and Bo). Highly, highly recommended - go read this today!
