My Thoughts:
I have really enjoyed the Alabama Summer series so far and I have to say, this book is a nice addition to the series. In fact, each one is better than the last. I love how interconnected they are, so not only do you get a story about a new couple, you get to catch up with the old ones, too. So it's like catching up with old friends while meeting new ones. I also love just how loyal they are to each other. This is an amazing set of friends who have each other's backs and are there for them, no matter the circumstances. They tease each other through the good times and drag each other through the bad and that is just amazing to witness. And once they make you part of their group, you fall in that category of the protected - whether you want to or not.
This is what Beth discovers when she meets - and ultimately gets involved with - Reed. He's been a part of this group of friends for many years, so he's accustomed to their ways. Beth is the newcomer, having just moved to Alabama upon discovering she has family there, following the death of her mother. All she wants is for someone to love her for herself and to prove an old boyfriend wrong - that she can be loved. All Reed wants is to get laid with no strings attached. But then they meet and his plans are blown out of the water, not just by Beth herself - who attracts him like no other before her - but by a former flame whose unexpected presence in town leads him to do something he hasn't done in nine years: become involved with a woman. Before he realizes what's happening, Beth has become an integral part of his life, but before they can have their happy ending, they must confront some demons from their pasts in order to truly appreciate one another. But in the meantime, they have some of the most incredible sexual encounters either of them have ever experienced.
All in all, this was a pretty fun and amazing book. Read it. You won't be sorry.
