One thing you must know about Jo Raven before reading any of her books: she is a heartless woman who takes sadistic delight in torturing the characters in her books. But then she gives them amazing love stories to live out so it all balances out in the end! Seriously, each book is fueled by a tortured soul and the woman who can't help but love him and the conflicts that conspire to keep them apart are just heart-rending. 

I thought Asher was bad enough withe all the crap he had to endure with his father, but then I read about what his brother Tyler had to endure at the same man's hands and I was just so torn up about it. And then in waltzes Zane and I am just done for. But like I said, these tortured men are fortunate enough to have women strong enough to see them through the dark times and help them conquer their demons. Not just that, but they also have an amazing group of friends who make you jealous because they're not your friends. The way they all stand by each other is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. “Who the hell are you?” he whispers, his voice deep and hoarse, resonating inside my bones. “What are you doing here?”
