There’s one thing you should know. I wasn’t that drunk.
I was more than sober enough to put a stop to it. The truth is, it was my idea. I’m the one who suggested it.
I knew it was crazy, but it’s not as if I’d be the first girl to get married on a whim in Las Vegas. I wouldn’t even be the last girl to get married on a whim in Las Vegas.
So what’s my excuse? I liked him. I liked the idea that he’d be stuck with me, just for a little bit.
Because nothing good ever lasts, so you might as well have a good time while you can.
GOOD TIME is a standalone romantic comedy set in the same world as Good Girl. This is Payton & Vince's story.

EXCERPT

He thinks I’m funny. And exasperating. And bossy. And beautiful, he said that I was beautiful.
It’s not the worst start in the history of starts, but I’d like to know more.
I pull out a stool and sit down at the island countertop so I can watch Vince work. It occurs to me once again what a shit wife I am. I don’t cook. I don’t give blow jobs. I haven’t asked if he needs anything dropped off at the dry cleaner. I don’t wear sexy lingerie. Maybe I should change? To be fair, the blow job thing is not my fault. I did offer that first night. I meant to yesterday but he distracted me with his tongue and that was that. Gah, I’m just the worst.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Giving you a blow job.”
“Yeah?” Vince responds easily, as if we’re talking about where the cutting board is. “Do you have a list of specific requirements for how you’d want that to happen?”
So he’s open to the idea, is what I’m hearing. Maybe he’ll want to date after the annulment and he’ll fall in love with me? It’ll make a great story for our grandchildren.
“You say that like I’m demanding.”
“You are.”
“I’m extremely easy-going! Everyone says so!” No one says that, actually. But it’s probably just because it’s never come up. It’s not as if I go around asking people if they think I’m easy-going, but if I did, they’d say yes. Probably. At least everyone except Vince would.
“You have a very easy-going way of getting your own way,” Vince states as he sets a pot of water on the stove to boil.
I suppose I can see where he might think that. That might even be a fair assessment. I’m really self-aware. I need to add that to my list of positive attributes.
“So for the blow job, can I tie you up?”
“No.” The answer is firm, his lips twitching like the question was amusing.
Humph. “Can you tie me up?”
“How are you going to give me a blow job if you’re tied up?”
Dammit! Worst. Wife. Ever. “I suppose without my hands it’d be more like you using my mouth to masturbate while I did nothing, wouldn’t it?”
“What a visual you paint, Payton.”
“You’re still welcome to tie me up though. It doesn’t have to be tradesies.”
“Tradesies,” he mutters with a shake of his head, but he’s smiling as he uncorks the wine and pours two glasses.
“So, where do you see yourself in five years, Vince?” Might as well dive in with the talking.
He looks up from rolling back his shirt sleeves, a look of confusion flashing across his face replaced with an amused narrowing of his eyes.
“Excuse me? Is this an interview?” He laughs, placing a pan on my stovetop before rummaging through my cabinets for a bottle of olive oil.
“This is serious. You’ll be old and divorced. Think about that.”
“An annulment doesn’t count as a divorce. It doesn’t count as anything.”
“Try telling that to Britney. She’s gonna have that nineteen-hour marriage on her Wikipedia page until she dies. Wikipedia, Vince. That’s forever.”
“Okay, whoa. Let’s step back a moment here.”
“Do you need a wife with benefits?” I press on, because taking a step back doesn’t sound like it will get me anywhere.
“What exactly does that mean?”
“I have health insurance. Do you need health insurance? I could add you to my plan. It’s very reasonable, adding a spouse only costs like an extra two hundred dollars a month. It’s a really good plan, too. At least that’s what Lydia told me and she works in Human Resources so she would know. I’m no benefits package expert.”
“That’s not what the term ‘with benefits’ means.”
“Listen, in this case I think it’s exactly what that means. Society is the one who turned the word ‘benefit’ into something dirty.”
“So there’d be no sex in this exchange?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course there’d be sex.”
“Did you just talk yourself into a circle?”
“Maybe.” Dammit.

Excerpt

"It's so loud in here. Maybe we should go someplace quieter," I suggest. But I realize too late, as it's coming out of my mouth, that it's not too loud in here. In fact, I'd describe the sound level as distinctly subdued. Damn it, I can't take it back, I already said it. Maybe he hasn't noticed how quiet it is, so I add, "Don't you think?" in a whisper.

He has to bite his lip to keep from laughing. I'm watching him—he's physically rolled his lip inward to restrain himself.

"Everly?" He leans in closer, his voice soft, seductive.

"Yes?"

"Did you want to be done talking now?"

I nod, relieved. "Yes." I sit up a little straighter, ready to grab my bag and hoof it out of here. He relaxes, sitting back in his chair. I stifle a groan.

"You're awfully anxious to get in my pants, Boots."

I slump back into the very comfortable chair and cross my arms, shrugging. "You might be terrible in bed," I admit.

He coughs and that turns into a laugh that he covers with his fist. "Might I?"

I nod, my mood serious. "You might."

"Your seduction techniques are something, Everly."

Oh, my God. He's not denying it. Maybe he has an erectile dysfunction. He's a premature ejaculator. Or he's got a micropenis. Or he's a eunuch. That'd be just my luck, wouldn't it? Wait, I could feel his erection this afternoon in his office. So scratch those last two worries. Still, so many possibilities. I've read articles.

"Do you take any medication?" I blurt out.

He tilts his head and looks at me, "No," he says, then shakes it slowly. "Do you?"

"Just the pill. But you're still wearing a condom. I'm not catching any babies from you." I shudder.

"Assuming I'm able to perform."

"Yes! Exactly!" Finally we're on the same page.

"Yet again, I never know what's going to come out of your mouth."

Excerpt

"I'd be happy to slide my cock past those lips of yours. But not tonight."

"What? Why?" It comes out a little shocked, and, if I'm honest, whiny. Is he saying we're not having sex today? Because I really want it. I've been thinking about it all morning. Fine. All week.

"Relax, Boots. I'm still going to fuck you."

"Whew." I exhale a giant breath and he just glances over and shakes his head.

"Can I fuck you without a condom?"

"No way. But I'll suck you off without a condom. And I'll swallow."

"Well, then."

"Hey, that's a good offer. I haven't swallowed since high school."

We're stopped at the light, making a left onto 22nd Street, and he glares at me.

I scrunch my nose and grimace. "But perhaps you didn't need to hear that."

"Perhaps not."

"Oopsie." I shrug. "Anyway, why can't I suck your dick tonight? You're being unreasonable."

He bites the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing at me. We're on Market Street headed towards Penn Square and I wait while he pulls the car into the Ritz-Carlton garage, slides into his parking space and gives me his full attention. He puts his arm across my headrest and traces the shell of my ear with his fingers before speaking softly.

"Because I want to come inside of you, even if it's in a condom. And then I want to do it again. And again. I don't know if I can hold off a load for your throat until tomorrow."

I want to blow him in this car right now, but I'm guessing he's a few years past that stage in his life. Plus it's a very tiny car.

"But I promise I won't bring you home tomorrow night without letting you suck my dick. Deal?"

Now I can’t stop fantasizing about one of the customers at the coffee shop I work at between classes. It’s just a harmless crush, right? It’s not like I ever see this guy outside of the coffee shop. It’s not like I’m going to see him while attempting to get birth control at the student clinic. While wearing a paper gown. While sitting on an exam table. Because he’s the doctor.  Shoot. Me.

Excerpt #1
Luke flexes his jaw and rubs the back of his neck. It occurs to me now how stupid my fantasy crush was. This is the longest amount of time I've spent with him, and the only time without a counter separating us. Still, I can't help being attracted to him. I know it's wrong. Fucked up. Delusional. I'm already wondering if my future career will pay enough to cover the therapy I obviously need.
Marie is back and places something wrapped in heavy-duty plastic on the tray. The object makes a thud as she sets it down before taking up her seat beside the door again, sticking her face into an old copy of Good Housekeeping.
"Lie back on the table, Sophie." Luke's face is unreadable as he walks over to the exam table. He wraps a hand around my wrist and raises it over my head, his eyes passing over my face briefly before he sets my hand on the table.
His fingers move to the gown covering me. Do not be turned on, do not be turned on, do not be turned on, I chant to myself. I snap my gaze away and focus on the ceiling.
There's a motivational poster on the ceiling right above the exam table. I burst out laughing just as I feel Luke's hands on my breast.
"Sorry, are my hands cold?"
"No, your hands are perfect," I blurt out without thinking. I think I detect a slight smirk on his face before I revert my gaze to the poster on the ceiling.
"The poster." I gesture upward with my free hand. It strikes me funny that there's a motivational poster on the ceiling. Like that's gonna take my mind off where I'm at. Or is it meant to motivate me to stay on this table? I giggle again. Luke tilts his head and looks at the ceiling.
Shit, are my nipples hard? That's normal, right? He's not doing anything erotic, but his hands are on my breasts. Yeah, my nipples are hard. His fingers are flat against the sides of my breasts now. He's rotating them around in what feels like a spiral pattern before lightly pinching my nipple. I have to stop myself from moaning a little. His hands feel good. I'm sure they're not supposed to, but they do.

Excerpt #2
"Sophie, he's going to be back for more. Trust me."
I load a tray of cupcakes and slide them into the bakery case. "I don't know, Everly. He's really sophisticated and clearly lives a lifestyle a long ways from Cowbell Lane," I say, referencing my grandparents' home in Willow Grove.
"Bitch, please. The guy is pushing forty and you're a hot co-ed with a brand-new tight, shiny pussy. He'll be back."
My eyes widen. "Everly, Jesus!"
"Just saying." She holds her hands up in mock defense before breaking into a huge grin.
"You don't really think he's forty, do you?"
"He just turned thirty-six in August."
"How do you know that?"
"Google."
"You Googled him?"
"You didn't?" Everly looks aghast.
"Uh, no." Truthfully I thought about it, but I didn't want to get any more invested in him than I already am.
"Well, look what the pussy dragged in." Everly is smirking.
"Everly, that's not the saying. It's 'cat.' 'Look what the cat dragged in.'"
"Oh, I think I've got the saying right. He's here."
My stomach explodes in nerves as I glance towards the door. Luke is here. I wondered if he'd stick to his normal Tuesday routine and stop here for coffee. I've figured out this Grind Me location is between his Rittenhouse Square condo and the student clinic, but it's hardly the only route he could take or stop he could make.
My heart is beating so fast as I take him in. Is he going to speak to me or go back to just ordering coffee and leaving like he has the last several weeks?
He's in a navy suit today, crisp white shirt and a silvery blue tie. And then my heart stops beating so fast. There's a hand on his arm. I follow that hand to the redhead from Saturday night.

Excerpt #3

He turns to me with a sly grin. "You've never had sex in here."
Obviously I haven't. He's the only person I've had sex with and that's all been at his place. "No."
"We can rectify that now." He grins.
Oh, that's what was on this mind? He wants to be the one to fuck me in my dorm room? "Yes, please."
"Yes, please?" he repeats back to me. "So polite, you little hussy," he says as he covers the three steps that separate us. "Should I be polite?" He bends and kisses me under my left ear, not waiting for an answer. "Come on, Sophie, let me make love to you, baby. I'll make it good for you, I swear." He's kissing me along my jaw and keeping his hands chastely on my hips, over my pajamas. I'm not sure what is happening right now. "I'll just put the tip in, okay?"
I laugh. He's giving me clichéd college sex lines.
"I'll still respect you in the morning, baby."
I'm laughing when he covers my mouth with his. He keeps whispering ridiculous lines to me, but his mouth and hands are their usual Luke perfection. I play along because it's funny, but it's hot too. Also, I love it when he loses focus and smirks at something I've said. He takes his time, probably more time than he's ever needed to take.
"Can I take off your shirt?" he asks, as if there's a possibility I might say no.
Jesus, yes! I want to scream at him. He's got me so worked up and we've still got all our clothes on. Heavy petting is bullshit when you've already ridden the bull. I unbutton his pants and ask for permission to "touch it." This earns me a laugh and I think I might have him then, ready to end this game and pound the fuck out of me on my twin-sized bed, but no. He regains composure and guides my hand up and down the length of him.
"I want you to be my first, Luke. I know you'll make it good." I am laying it on now. "I've wanted you inside of me since the first time I saw you." It's getting harder to speak with his hands down my pants. "Your fingers, God knows how I loved watching them as you brought your coffee cup to your perfect lips. I'd go home after my shift and lie in this bed and touch myself while thinking about you. Before the clinic, before I even knew your name, I'd lie right here thinking about you while making myself come."
