My Thoughts:

Let me start out by saying I am very conflicted about this story. Several times while reading it, I nearly stopped and always in the back of my mind was the question, why am I reading this? The main reason: Isis. I didn't really like her much. The way she talked was over-the-top, she was way too full of herself, and she thought she was justified in just being a general bitch to everyone around her. It got to be way too much at times and that's what had me nearly stopping so many times. The only thing that kept me reading was the story itself. I was intrigued by what was going on, what everyone knew but wasn't telling, etc. Needless to say, I hated the way it ended because - oh, yeah - it's book one in a series. I had hoped future books would center on different characters. Not that I don't like Jack - he was kind of cool - but I don't know if I could read more about Isis. And there are still so many questions to be answered. But I just don't think I'm invested enough to find them out. I don't know. Like I said - conflicted.
