Release Boost and Giveaway: A Moment of Madness by Brooklyn Skye

Title: A Moment of Madness
Series: Boston Alibi #2
Author: Brooklyn Skye
Publisher: Entangled: Brazen
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 20, 2017

Blurb

Sailor Carlson comes back to Boston to make amends with her dad, only to find he passed away, and his bar, the Alibi, now belongs to a bearded, grumpy hottie. Mr. Hottie liked her enough for a night of nameless sex on the kitchen counter, but he wants nothing to do with her now he knows who she is.

Ryan Edwards has been running the Alibi for seven years. Being in a bar night after night means he’s no stranger to one-night stands. But when the quirky, beautiful blonde he spent a hot night with shows up at his bar claiming it used to belong to her father, his guard goes right up.

Ryan’s desperate for a waitress, and Sailor wants a chance to work in the place that meant so much to her dad. If only the tenuous trust they establish were as strong as the pesky attraction simmering between them.

The sweater stretched farther, Sailor’s nose pinching with the movement. “This is really gross.” She attempted to wiggle out of the sweater without the wet part touching her—a tricky thing to do, apparently. With the material covering her face and her arms bent above her head, she let out a nervous-sounding laugh. Then her muffled voice echoed from behind the fabric.

“Um…Ryan? Are you still standing there?”

Ryan crossed his arms, running his gaze over the tight white tank she wore beneath the sweater and the sliver of smooth skin that peeked out from below the hem. “Watching you tangle yourself up in a barf sweater? Sure am.”

“Well,” she said, “I know we just met, and this might be awkward for you, but could you give me a little assistance? I seem to be stuck.”

Without hesitation, he stepped closer, taking in the sight before him. Lifting her arms like that…removing the hideous sweater… Ryan would have never expected to see such delicate curves, especially ones that made his fingertips tingle. Suddenly, he wanted to touch her, to grip her tiny waist, palm her round tits, slide his tongue over—

He doesn’t need another complication in his life, but the sweet, frustratingly opinionated little blonde hell-bent on caring for his daughter stirs his blood like no woman ever has.
All it takes is a moment of weakness to ignite the lust blazing between them. A moment that will unravel their self-control and unleash all of Micah’s darkest secrets...

She opened her mouth, but before she could get anything out, he said, “How about we show you where you’ll be sleeping,” and walked out of the kitchen, gesturing for her to follow.

Silently, she trailed him, her suitcase bumping along the carpeted hallway. With each step, she catalogued what she knew of him so far.

Right foot. Raising six-year-old alone.

Left foot. Has taken some precautions in keeping Shaelynn safe, but might need some help with that.

Right foot. His backside is really, really nice to look at.

Left foot. I wonder if those muscles under his back pockets feel as hard as they look—

“It’s only a two-bedroom apartment,” he said, suddenly coming to a stop. The movement was too fast, and by the time her brain caught up, she was already slamming into the back of him. Right against the butt she’d been staring at.

Oh my god.

He twirled fast and clamped his huge hand around the top of her arm to steady her, those brown eyes ticking from her eyes to her forehead to her ears, mouth, over her shoulder, then back to her eyes. The force of his stare triggered a nervous giggle from her lips.

“I’m so sorry,” she said, forcing her gaze to stay with his even though the intensity was making her a little dizzy. “I didn’t expect you to stop right there.”

“We’re at the end of the hallway,” he said, unamused.

Right. But… She pointed to where the carpet dead ended. “I couldn’t see because of your…”

Butt. Not a chance she’d admit that.

Your entire ginormous body blocking my view. Yeah, not that either.

“Because of…um, you,” she said, swallowing down what she hoped was all of her embarrassment.

Fragile Line
Release Date: 04/21/14
Entangled Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
It can happen in a flash. One minute she’s kissing her boyfriend, the next she’s lost in the woods. Sixteen-year-old Ellie Cox is losing time. It started out small…forgetting a drive home or a conversation with a friend. But her blackouts are getting worse, more difficult to disguise as forgetfulness. When Ellie goes missing for three days, waking up in the apartment of a mysterious guy—a guy who is definitely not her boyfriend, her life starts to spiral out of control.

Perched on the edge of insanity, with horrific memories of her childhood leaking in, Ellie struggles to put together the pieces of what she’s lost—starting with the name haunting her, Gwen. Heartbreakingly beautiful, this poignant story follows one girl’s harrowing journey to finding out who she really is.

WITHOUT YOU
Release Date: 10/22/13

Summary from Goodreads:

*A novella to the best-selling New Adult novel STRIPPED*
I’m the knight on the white horse in her eyes, the one who broke down her defenses after her sister’s death until she realized she was capable of love. To her—aside from my name, Torrin Kingsley—I’m perfect.

But there’s a sliver of my past I’ve never shared with her. One that is now haunting me with every breath I take. One she is starting to raise her brow to.

I’m not certain how much longer I can keep it from her. To be honest, I don’t know that it would make a difference anyway, because it seems no matter which path I choose, they all lead to the same end point. A place without Quinn.

My demons run bone deep. I guess burying them forever wasn’t possible.

My Thoughts:

I read the first book, Stripped, and I thought it was an interesting story with some twists and turns I didn't expect. So I was eager to delve into this story, told from Torrin's point of view. I really liked Torrin a lot. He is such a decent guy who got caught up in a really terrible situation and took more blame for it than was his due. And he would do whatever he has to in order to make those he cares about happy. The person he cares most about is Quinn. Sometimes, I had to wonder why. Quinn really got on my nerves in this book. She was borderline in the first one, but in this one, she really ticked me off a lot. She was whiney and selfish and pulled disappearing acts on Torrin that made her look like a brat. When she should have been turning to Torrin for support, she turned instead to someone else - someone who used to see her naked when she posed nude for his art class. Seriously, I had to wonder at times why Torrin liked her so much because she didn't seem to give him reason to. But of course, he's such an upstanding guy, he took it and still tried to be there for her.

In the end, she kind of redeemed herself by supporting him when he went off to fulfill his dream of becoming a photographer, but, boy did she put that boy through hell before she did. So not a great book, but it was entertaining.
