Book Excerpt

There was nothing special about her. No one gasped and had fantasies when she walked into the room. But being noticed was Tristan’s life.
They lived on opposite sides of the camera. He worked as entertainment reporter for the local news station. He had fifteen minutes on the air, five days a week. People tuned in to watch whenever Tristan flashed his perfect smile and used his deep trustworthy voice to tell exciting stories about glamorous events occurring in Southern California. Tristan loved the spotlight.
“Hey Solaris,” he jauntily greeted. Solaris finally looked. Raindrops had turned his pale gold hair a slightly darker shade. Even that was attractive. “Can you believe this storm? This morning it was sunny. Now the sky is falling.”
“I like rain,” she argued, “it cleans the air.”
“But I like sunshine. It’s warm and friendly.”
“Most tourists would probably agree.”
Pleased that he won their silly debate he grinned. Then in one smooth move he leaned down, cupped her chin in his palm and captured her lips in a showy kiss. Tristan always greeted her this way. When their love was new that hot possessive kiss used to curl her toes.
Today the affectionate display felt hollow.
In being honest with herself Solaris knew the showy kiss wasn’t for her emotional benefit at all. The dramatic entrance was meant to entertain his current audience, the coffee shop crowd. It had certainly captured attention. As she glance around some female faces looked envious, others looked away, and most men seemed embarrassed for witnessing the scene.
“Been waiting long?” He asked, sitting down in the other chair.
“Only a few minutes,” she lied and inside Solaris cringed at her words. She hated that she always avoided conflict between them by politely excusing his rude behavior. They both knew that he was half an hour late. Tristan should apologize. He didn’t, of course. He never apologized. If she was unhappy with something, that was her problem.
Sorry was not in his vocabulary.

Book Excerpt

"Gavin slides his hands down my back in a massaging motion as I sit on his lap. We’re at Lucas’ apartment having dinner. Kel and I are enthralled in a game of cards while the boys talk about the football game they are watching. Gavin is pulling for the Colts while Lucas is an adamant Patriots’ fan.
“Aria. Earth to Aria Georgiana…” Kel is snapping her fingers in a waving motion in front of me and I must have spaced out because she’s trying to get my attention.
“What?” I tilt my face up to see her grinning.
“You’re daydreaming again! It’s your turn” She gives me a wink and I feel Gavin stiffen behind me at the idea that I’m daydreaming. About his hands skating along my skin. My back, my thighs, my shoulders. Oh, how I want them south. To where I’m aching for him so much.
And who are you daydreaming about, baby?” I turn my face into the hollow just above Gavin’s ear.
“You. I want you, now.” My voice sounds close to a growl of desire as I whisper in his ear. Immediately he’s hard and I giggle in anticipation.
“I’m sorry, Luke but I think I’ve been neglecting my sweet girl, here. We’ll see you at the church”
Gavin stands with me against his chest and nods toward Lucas and Kel who are both smiling. They know exactly why we’re leaving and with that realization, my cheeks heat.
“Have fun” My sister practically sings and I can’t help but laugh as she hugs me and whispers in my ear.
“It’s good to see you so happy, Ari. See you soon”
Gavin takes my hand and tugs me out into the cool Chicago night air and immediately pushes me against the hood of his car. He dips his head and begins to run kisses down my throat and neck.
“Oh, please take me home Gavin” I beg and pull his head back with my hands so I can see the depths of his brilliant blue gray eyes.
“Home” He drawls, skating fingers down my face to grasp my chin. Those eyes of his fill with tenderness and it melts me into a puddle before him. I nod and smile shyly.
“Take me home”
It feels like it takes hours to get back to the penthouse and then also for the short ride up the elevator. Gavin keeps his arm around my waist the entire way and as soon as I close the front door behind us I crash my body into his and kiss him. Deep. Hard. Hungry. I feel wetness flood my core and feel the press against my lower stomach of Gavin’s desire for me as well.
“Beautiful” He groans against my mouth, grasps the hem of my skirt and pushes the silky fabric off my hips and legs. The next to go is his t-shirt, the buckle of his loose fitting jeans and finally my blouse. It takes a matter of seconds for my bra and pink laced panties to join our clothes on the hardwood floor.
When I’m standing naked before him, Gavin’s eyes take me in as if he’s never seen my body before. He doesn’t move to touch me, he just looks at me with hungry eyes.
“You are so sweet, Aria. I love that you’re mine” Gavin pierces me with the intensity in his eyes and his words reverberate through my skin like sunlight.
I clutch onto his shoulders as he carries me into our bedroom and straight to the bed.
“Need you” I tangle my fingers through his hair and feel in my soul that Gavin is the only one I’ll ever need.
As if he knows the depth of my need for him, he brings his mouth down to mine and whispers against my lips.
“I’m yours, Aria. But we only have an hour" Despite his reminder, I push my body into his. I moan cathartically when I feel his hardness against the very core of me. I can’t think through the haze of pleasure that I find myself in. All I can do is feel."

Book Excerpt and Giveaway: Changed by Alicia Renee Kline

Title: Changed

Author: Alicia Renee Kline

Release date: April 7th, 2015

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book Description:
It was only supposed to be a one night thing…
Will Delaney and Gracie Alexander are little more than acquaintances when fate lands them in same place at the same time. One drunken hookup later, they decide that the best course of action for all involved is to pretend it never happened.
Will’s recently divorced. Gracie’s perennially single.
Upon first glance, they have absolutely nothing in common.
They both agree on one thing: they’re not looking for a relationship.
The only problem is that they can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Can two people who have sworn off love forever find it in the most unexpected setting?

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25304260-changed
Book Excerpt
I awoke in my new favorite position:  wrapped in Will’s arms.  I snuggled into his embrace, relishing the feel of his bare skin against mine.  His grip around me tightened, a reflex even in slumber.  I was certain he was still asleep - his deep, even breathing was just this side of a full on snore.
Sunlight flooded through the window in my bedroom.  Even though the temperature outside was well below freezing, you’d have thought it was summer in my apartment.  Somehow the tension and the uncertainty of the previous night - of the past week, really - had vanished, leaving behind the warmth of an emerging plan.
The new job could work.  Fort Wayne could work.  Will and I could continue being uncommitted to one another.  He wasn’t opposed to me invading his hometown, moving into his backyard so to speak.  And as long as I was willing to accept that we’d never be able to be seen in public with each other again, things were golden.  At least I could have this.  Though always with the understanding that the second I wanted more and was able to find it, Will was history.
He never had to know I didn’t intend to take him up on the bail out clause.  Ever.  The realization should have scared me beyond belief, but I was as calm as if I’d just admitted the sky was blue or the Earth wasn’t flat.  The fact of the matter was it just was.
Embracing singlehood for the rest of my life wouldn’t be so bad if I could wake up like this each morning.

Book Excerpt:

“How you feeling?” Quinn asks, turning to a dining area where he pulls out a chair and motions for her to sit. Two place settings wait at the square metal and glass table. He grabs a pitcher of orange juice when she starts to move and pours for both of them.

“Better than I deserve.” She sits with her head hung low, avoiding his face. There’s a full outdoor kitchen to the side of the stairs where Quinn reaches into a stainless warming drawer. Wow. “Was this deck already like this when you moved in?” Shit. I wasn’t gonna bring up the house.

“No. A friend of a friend designed it and fast-tracked the job for me. They just finished a couple weeks ago.” He sets a plate in front of her with a spinach and goat cheese scramble and rosemary potatoes.

Oh wow… What’s he trying to do? “You didn’t have to do all this?” she sighs.

“I was making it for me too. Not a big deal.”

He sets down a plate for himself along with a bowl of fruit to share and the memories of their breakfasts back in LA flood in. I’m really not ready for this. Oh my god, these potatoes smell so good. “This is amazing.” Amazing doesn’t really cover it. She looks around overwhelmed by the drastic change in his lifestyle in such a quick time. He’s gotta be blowing all of his money, and getting into some serious debt.

“I’m really happy with it,” he says. Just wish you were here with me every morning… Quinn shakes his thoughts and grabs the sourdough from the toaster. “So how much do you remember?” He settles into his chair and spreads butter as casually as he can manage.

Ugh. “Most of it, unfortunately. Definitely racking up the worst days of my life lately.”

Oh. He sighs. It doesn’t have to be. “I’m sorry to hear that.” His voice cracks a bit as he takes a bite.
They continue in silence for a few minutes as the tension builds.

How can this robe be too warm up here? It’s probably not even 55 degrees outside. She looks around and notices a red glow coming from various areas behind the horizontal slats. Heat? There’s a heat lamp built into the canopy over the kitchen as well. He has outdoor heat?

Quinn chews with frustration, his fork hitting the plate harder with each bite. Say something!

Seriously. Why won’t she let us be happy? Gotta be the most frustrating woman on the planet… and I pick her. Typical! He drops his knife causing her to jump. “Sorry,” he says. I wish she’d take off those stupid sunglasses so I can see her.

Jeez. What’s his problem? He seems mad. Join the club and get in line! Monica starts scooping all the pineapple out of the fruit bowl.

Seriously? She’s only gonna eat the pineapple? Whatever. Always gotta be difficult. He shakes his head and waits to retrieve the strawberries and mango left in the bowl.

They continue eating without conversation, but the clamber of utensils and glasses slamming gets louder and louder.

“Can you call me a cab?” Monica starts to get up.

“Seriously? That’s it?” Staring at his reflection in her sunglasses only pisses him off more.

“What do you expect from me? I didn’t ask you to bring me here! In fact… I remember screaming that I didn’t want to leave with you!”

“Did you think we’d let you leave with Jack?”

“It’s not your business who I would have left with!”

“Why are you acting like I did something to you? You left me! You ended us. And I respected your decision and disappeared.”

“Really? Cause I could’ve sworn you were in Maui!”

“How was I supposed to know you’d be there? And come into my gallery? What, you got dibs on the whole island?”

“Yours? You own the gallery?” She shakes her head not caring for an answer. “That’s what made him finally decide to end it.”

Quinn stills remembering Alex’s pain filled face. “So you blame me for Alex leaving?”

Book Excerpt

Monica never heard Alex leave for his hike. She didn’t even hear him get out of bed. That's why the knock at the front door at seven thirty startled her. She stumbled into the sun dress thrown across the hamper and crept into the living room. Quinn's unmistakable silhouette was standing at the front door. She unlocked it noticing his usual shorts and flip-flops with no shirt. She thought she must still be dreaming at the sight of his golden and tattooed body.
“I couldn’t sleep,” he rushed in, taking her face in his hands and lifting her from the foundation with his lips. For a minute she forgot they were in clear view of the park, overcome by his display. His biceps gripped her body like the ace bandage on her ankle. She anchored to his shoulders as he herded her backward and kicked the door closed. She lost balance, but he scooped her up faster then she could comprehend.
“Wait! No! Put me down!”
He ignored her, taking her lips with a forceful breath until she struggled to her feet.
“Not in here. It’s dangerous.”
“You like dangerous." I love it!
"Not in my living room."
"Then where? You call it. I want to be inside you," he said in her ear, "now."
Fuck it! She climbed him like a tree. His lips pulling her in as his strong hands supported her ass. She loved the feel of his hard length grinding her into the back of the sofa. There was a gasp through a held breath as she helped him wiggle her panties to the floor.
