Release Blitz: Attracting Aubrey by Avery Flynn

_AA - RB banner.jpg

Carter went from an untouchable movie star to the man I’m falling for.
Attracting Aubrey, an all-new sexy, laugh-out-loud standalone romance in the Gone Wild series from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Avery Flynn, is out now!

Attracting Aubrey Cover

I never dreamed I’d meet my celebrity crush while stealing every single pair of my best friend’s pants.
Trust me, my life is not that wild. In fact, the most excitement I usually get is running my fan-favorite Insta thirst account featuring butt-tastic pics of Hollywood superhero Carter Hayes. So, imagine my shock when, in the middle of the cruise ship hallway, I realize the guy whose shirt I'm stuffing slacks inside of is Carter disguised as a tourist. How I manage not to faint dead away, I've got no clue.
When word leaks that Carter might be on board, he asks me to help him maintain his cover. There’s no way I’m gonna say no to that. I just don't share that I’m the anonymous woman behind the fan account that reported sighting him onboard. No biggie. Right?
However, when things between us go from friendly to hot to OMG-I-can’t-keep-my-clothes-on-around-him, all I can do is hope he never discovers my secret. You see, somewhere along the way, Carter went from an untouchable movie star to the man I’m falling for.

About Avery Flynn
avery-flynn-about-300x300.jpg
USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.
She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staff knew her by name.
Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

Release Blast and Review: AWK-WEIRD by Avery Flynn

There’s more to me than just being awk-weird. I own my own flower shop, have some great friends, and I have my eye on adopting the most adorable kitten. But sadly, hot guys don’t tend to be blown away by my trivia-spouting, dorky self.

So, when a Thor-lookalike who happens to be a professional hockey player hits on me at my bestie's wedding rehearsal party ... You better believe I climbed that tree like a cat. And the face that it happened not once, not twice, but three times? Yeah, that's pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a woman like me.

There's zero chance I'll end up ever seeing him again...right?

Until the pregnancy test comes up positive. What happens next?

Oh my God, I wish I knew...

My Thoughts:

I want to start off by saying I'm a big fan of Avery Flynn's and I usually love all of her books with their feisty heroines and drool-worthy hunks, and though I liked this book, I didn't love it like the others. Which is a shame because I really liked Cole and wanted to read more about him. I think my problem was with Tess. I know what it's like to be a Tess and to struggle in uncomfortable situations - not to mention having the weird trivia knowledge - but sometimes I felt like it was a little over the top and it got to be too much at times. I kept wondering how old she was because sometimes she came off as really young and sometimes she came off as older. And the way she kept putting barriers between herself and Cole was very frustrating! It was like she didn't really give him a chance until it was almost too late for one. So she wasn't exactly my favorite heroine of Flynn's (that would be Butterface) but she was okay beneath all that awkwardness. The true diamond of this story was Cole. I just love how he was with her, how he found her awkwardness endearing rather than annoying, and especially how he really stepped up to the plate and never balked at his responsibilities when needed. He's the real reason this story worked for me and the best parts always included him in some way. He was just such a good character and I loved reading about him. And he was always just so patient with Tess and all her misgivings - I don't think he lost his cool once with her. Sure, he got frustrated, but he always maintained some level of calm with her. He's just a good guy and don't we need a lot more of those? I know I do!

Blog Tour: PARENTAL GUIDANCE by Avery Flynn

"A fantastically fun, HOT love story." - Kendall Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

Parental Guidance, an all-new, sexy and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Avery Flynn, is available now!

ParentalGuidance_1600

All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.
Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.
What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.
Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

Excerpt:

“So why are you on Bramble?”
She took another small bite from her roll before answering. “My best friend is blackmailing me, and my dad wants a SAG card.”
That was definitely not the answer he’d been expecting. “And I thought my reasoning was twisted.”
“I’m sure it all makes sense in Gemma’s head,” Zara said. “She thinks I work too much and need to loosen up. She’ll let me be her plus-one to go meet a collector if I do the Bramble five dates thing. And my dad? Well, let’s just say he’s never met an unlikely plan he didn’t think he could pull off.”
All the possibilities this created sped around inside his head until one broke free like a perfect fast break late in the third period when the game was on the line. All he had to do was put the biscuit in the net.
“So neither of us really wants to be here,” he said. “We’re each other’s solution to getting back to our regular lives as soon as possible.”
It was fucking perfect. Petrov’s job with the team would be safe for another season—well, as safe as he could be, considering he didn’t have a no-trade deal in his contract.
Zara, though, didn’t seem to be seeing the genius of it, going by the suspicious look she gave him as she took another bite of her roll. Instead of giving him a straight-up no, though, she started eating. The words—okay, begging pleas—were bubbling up inside him but for once, he kept it in lockdown. He wasn’t about to rush this play, no matter how it had every nerve in his body jinglejangling.
Finally, she used her napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth, straightened her spine, and looked him dead in the eye. “We’d have to have ground rules.”
“Sure. Whatever you want.” Ice Knights season tickets? He’d make that happen. A photo op with her dad’s favorite player? Done. Whatever it took, he’d do it.
“This isn’t a real or fake relationship, it’s a temporary alliance,” she said without an ounce of humor in her tone. “I’m not pretending to be your girlfriend or the random chick you’re banging this week.”
“Agreed.” All of that sounded like it would cause more problems than it would solve anyway. “I’ve got a condition. Dressing up is not required. I’m not putting on a suit.”
The best thing about the off-season was not having to strangle himself with a tie multiple times a week just for a bus ride to the rink or a plane trip to another city. Coach Peppers was old-fashioned about doing things the original way.
“Fine.” Zara held up three fingers. “The third stipulation is that I’m not putting on a good attitude. If it’s been a crappy day, I don’t have to pretend to be a manic pixie dream girl.”
He snorted. “No one who’s met you would believe that. You’re a little salty.” That was putting it mildly based on her attitude when she showed up for their date.
“I have my reasons.” She added another finger, so she was holding up four. “Oh, and no making love. Sex?” She paused and looked him over quickly. “Maybe. Emotional, heartfelt, staring-each-other-in-the-eyes making love? Not gonna happen. No offense, but you’re not my type.”
What the hell? Not her type? He was a professional athlete making millions. He’d been led to believe he was everyone’s type.
“Not a problem, since I don’t think we could see eye to eye while having sex unless you magically grew a foot,” he said.
“You’re not into being creative?” Zara rolled her eyes. “I guess that’s expected for someone who has probably had women throwing themselves at him for years. You haven’t ever had to work for it.”
Caleb had no idea what to say to that. He’d been punched square in the face by the most feared goons in hockey and it hadn’t knocked him as senseless as this little five-foot-nothing of a snarky woman had done with a few choice words.
“I have one more rule,” she said, reaching for another roll. “Five dates and we’re done. Period. Do we have a deal?”

My Thoughts:

Another winner from Avery Flynn! And this one takes on the world of online matchmaking and spins it on its head. As the title suggests, this app lets the parents choose the "dates" for their children and the results are interesting, to say the least. On paper, Caleb and Zara shouldn't really fit and they both know it. They both also have their reasons for going along with this whole scheme cooked up by third parties so they make a deal to make it easier on them - and to get out of the experience without commitments. But nothing ever goes as planned and soon, these two are falling for each other with often hilarious results.  A fun read that I just gobbled up, Flynn really delivers on the RomCom promise.

Blog Tour and Review: TOMBOY by Avery Flynn

Tomboy - BT banner.jpg

How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box?

Tomboy, an all-new, sexy romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn, is available now!

Tomboy_1600x2400

Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF—his PR manager—begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City.

But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.
At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood—or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.

Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic—but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.

But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.

Tomboy - Teaser 4 AN.jpg

Excerpt:

The blaring ring echoed off the bare walls of the nearly empty mansion as Fallon Hartigan marched down the hallway with murder on her mind.
As soon as she got to the source of that ringing, she was going to give Harbor City what they wanted most and kill the most-hated man in hockey. Sure, she might get arrested, but the metro area would probably throw her a parade. She turned the corner and stopped dead in her tracks outside the open double doors leading to the overpriced defenseman’s bedroom.
The man—who’d been puking his guts up less than twenty-four hours ago—was in the middle of a king-size bed, wearing nothing but a smirk and a bed sheet that was draped so low across his hips that she could see miles of those V lines south of his hard abs. Like she was a newbie nurse on her first set of rounds, her breath caught, and a blush she most definitely did not want to appear started to burn her cheeks. Damn her pasty Irish skin.
Still, she had to admit, if only to herself, that the view was fucking amazing. The man was a professional athlete and had the muscular, inked-up chest to prove it. Practically against her will, her gaze traveled over the plentiful ink across his pecs and lingered a few breaths too long on his silver nipple rings.
Seemingly indifferent to her perusal, Zach swiped his thumb across his cell phone’s screen, ending the incessant ringing.
“About time,” he said, his voice a mellow, low rumble. “I’ve been ringing for you for almost ten minutes.”
He dropped his phone on the small table next to the bed and then lounged against the headboard, managing somehow to look down his nose at her even with their current height differential.
Forget killing him, she was going to go after her bestie. It was Lucy’s fault Fallon was even here.
She squeezed her eyes shut and counted to ten as she recalled all the reasons why the man was a menace and not the solution to her three-month-long sexual dry spell.
He was a selfish player.
He was surly to the press, to the fans, and probably to his neighbor’s dog.
He’d banged a puck bunny tattooed with the logo of the Ice Knights’ most hated rival.
She counted to another ten while remembering why she couldn’t off him.
He was Lucy’s client.
He was, for some incomprehensible reason, one of her bestie’s friends.
He had the skills to turn around the Ice Knights’ sofar shitty season if he could remove the giant chip from his shoulder and start playing as if he actually liked hockey again.
Exhaling a deep breath, she reopened her eyes and barely noticed his muscular shoulders this time as she moved away from the door.
There. All better.
She’d managed to pack away the Hartigan attitude, and her temper hadn’t even made an appearance. Bully for her. Now to get back to that cool, clinical demeanor she strove for whenever she was on the clock.

“You rang?” she asked, managing to keep a good 73 percent of her annoyance out of her tone as she walked farther into the room.

My Thoughts:

I have read the Hartigan series from the beginning (Butterface, Muffin Top) and I have truly enjoyed it, and I'm happy to say Tomboy is a good, very fitting addition to it. What I love most about this series is that its heroines are all women who society deems not pretty/good enough because they're not rail-thin or super model beautiful, and yet they snag the much-coveted handsome guys anyway and they do it on their own merit and with the beauty in their hearts, not their faces or bodies. They are just like the rest of us who don't walk the runways or grace the movie/TV screens, so it's so much easier to identify with them and lose ourselves in their romance. And nobody tells a romance story between a "Plain Jane" and her prince than Avery Flynn. Although Butterface is still probably my favorite and I really enjoyed Muffin Top, Tomboy is a close second to the top. I just loved Zach in all his grumpiness and Fallon in her no-nonsense attitude and the way, when they were together, sparks flew - whether they were fighting or something else. And the something else was wildly sexy! I never thought Fallon would meet her match, but she really did in Zach and the results were explosive - and so fun to read! I can't wait to see what's next for this crazy, rambunctious, amazing family.
