Blurb:

Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her. To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach.
The next time I saw him, I was twenty, and he was thirty-six.
He didn't remember me. And when he flirted... I didn't tell him.
By the time he found out, it was too late. We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.
Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
Too bad he’s my dad’s best friend.

Excerpt:
The bartender comes over a few seconds later and places a tumbler down in front of me. I lift the glass to my mouth, and as I’m about to swallow, I sense a presence beside me. I turn, take the swig, and look at who’s there.
A woman.
She’s beautiful.
Exquisite, really.
Young.
With long, sun-kissed locks that fall below her breasts, I lift my gaze to study her features. She’s too young for me, that’s for certain. She appears to be in her mid to early twenties with big blue eyes and freckled skin as though she’s just left the beach. Her hair flows in waves that look tousled by the wind.
If I thought she was lovely before, she smiles, and my pulse begins to race. How long has it been since I’ve gotten laid? Too long, if I have to ask.
I watch as she nibbles on her lower lip as if she’s waiting for me to say something. When I don’t, she pulls her shoulders back and then flashes me a smirk.
“Mind if I join you?” But she doesn’t wait for me to answer before she takes the seat beside me. In this position, I can see she’s wearing a dress, and from where she’s perched, it’s short.
“Not at all,” I say. “What would you like?”
“A glass of champagne, please,” she responds. Her voice is soft like an angel.
Fuck.
What is wrong with me?
I turn to the bartender again. “A glass of champagne for the lady.”
A second later, the flute is placed in front of her, and she tips it back, her full lips touching the glass, her tongue sweeping out to lick a drop that missed her mouth.
I wonder what her lips would feel like on mine.
“So what brings you to Malaga?” I ask, needing to know more about this woman. “Business or pleasure?”
A seductive smirk spreads across her face as if she’s up to no good, and the idea of bringing her back to my room later and sinking inside her becomes more and more promising.
“What?”
“Pleasure,” she finally draws out, and I know if I want her, I can have her. I take a swig of my drink and then sear her with my gaze.
“I’m supposed to be meeting a buddy for dinner, but it appears he’s not showing. Are you free tonight?”
Since Tyler isn’t here, I might as well make the best of my trip.
Her eyes widen, and she opens to her mouth to speak, hopefully, to say yes, but then I hear it.
“Grayson,” the voice calls out from behind me, and I turn to find Tyler approaching. I want to curse him for coming now. I know, at first, I hated that he was late, but now that he’s here, I want him to leave.
He turns to the lady on my right and smiles. “I see you found him,” he says to her, and I narrow my brows . . .
Found him?
He knows her.
“Yes, he was kind enough to buy me a drink.” She lifts the glass at him and winks.
“You’re not old enough to drink,” Tyler adds, and I swear it’s like I’m watching a ping-pong game, and I can’t figure out what’s going on.
“I am in Spain,” she chides.
And that makes me look from him to her.
What am I missing?
Tyler . . . Is he cheating on Kim?
“So, Grayson, does she look the same?”
“Does who look the same?”
“River, of course.” He points at the stunning beauty beside me.
She looks familiar. Why do her eyes look familiar, and why is Tyler looking down adoringly at this woman? And then it hits me in the gut.
This is no woman. She’s a girl. A very beautiful one but a girl, nonetheless.
Young.
Very. Fucking. Young.
How did I not see it before? A girl so young, she could be my daughter. She’s his daughter.

“Hey, I never got a taste,” Pierce exclaims.
“Oops.” I smile innocently. “There’s none left. Maybe next time.”
Before I know it, he’s leaning into me. Into my personal space, he’s so close I’m dizzy. Our gazes are locked. My breath comes out ragged and harsh from being this close to him. What is he doing?
He answers my unspoken question by taking my hand in his. My heart hammers heavily in my chest as it lifts. The feel of his fingers on me is hot and heady, the memories that are imprinted on my mind resurfacing to the forefront of my brain. I remember everything.
We stare at each other.
Neither speaking.
The seconds pass, but it feels like everything is on pause as I wait to see what he will do. The boys talking in the background is a steady buzz against the pounding in my chest.
He lifts.
Thud.
Closer.
Thud.
His tongue juts out, and he swipes the tip of my finger where the cream from the filling has collected. Before I can think, he places it in his mouth and eats the rest.
“Ewwwww,” rings out through the room. The sound of the boys gagging pulls me out of my haze.
“What are you doing?”
“Having dessert.” He winks. His emerald green eyes twinkling with mischief.
He’s too close. Too damn close. I remember what his lips feel like against my skin. Decadent. Like the first bite of a macaron.
Sinful.
I need to get away.

Having read the previous books on the Lancaster brothers, I have to say I was eagerly awaiting Pierce's story. I am glad to say I was not disappointed. There was just something about him that called to me - maybe it was the wounded soul, or the younger sibling syndrome that made him feel like he was not good enough, that he would not be seen for who he was among his other siblings. Whatever it was, it struck something inside me and I just couldn't wait for Pierce's story. This story hit me in all the feels; I really connected with Pierce's character and just wanted so much for him to get his happily ever after. It is quite a bumpy road to that end and oh my god, I wish I could say more but I don't want to spoil it for you. All I will say is something wowza happens that sheds a new light on/changes things for him. And it takes a strong woman to keep up with a troubled bad boy like this, but thankfully, Lindsey is up to the task. Too bad she has the high-and-mighty Olivia in her ear, trying to warn her away from him - like she could talk, given her background. And did she ever try to get to know him herself when she first started going out with his brother? In case you couldn't tell, Olivia aggravated me with her better-than-you attitude toward Pierce when, just a short time before, she was no better than him with her own drug use. And if I remember correctly, she had very little interaction with him herself so what, exactly, was she basing her opinion of him on? Thankfully, that's just a minor aggravation for me in an otherwise compelling book, but even that added another layer to it. Well done, Ava Harrison, very well done.

*Sordid is a COMPLETE standalone novel.

Well, one thing's for sure: this certainly lives up to its title! There are all kinds of sordid little things going on here and most, if not all, of them lead back to family. In one way or another. You get a glimpse of Grant in the first book about the Lancasters, Clandestine, and it's not a very good one. First impression: he's a jerk who sold out his family. In Sordid, you get the truth. You see what happened to lead up to every step he took to become what he was - and the real reasons behind it. And let me tell you, there's so much more than what was on the surface. The passions of this man run deep, as Bridget - sister to his brother's girlfriend - discovers firsthand. There is so much sexual tension running between the two of them from the get-go, I can almost forgive and overlook the over-used age gap between them. Usually, I hate that and often skip over a book because of it (what's with all the stories about men in their thirties going for so much younger girls? I don't get it), but this author didn't make it as much of a big deal as others have, so you soon forget that there's a gap at all. Something about them together just works and carries the story. And poor Bridget, she has her own issues with family. Namely, growing up in and living in the shadows of her two sisters, who garner all the attention in the family. I know what that is like, so I really felt for her. This also made the story more believable for me, more relate-able. I understood her motivations and cheered her on while she strove to carve out something just for her. The road to happy isn't easy for these two, but it is an exciting one that'll have you putting off everything else to read it - I know it did for me!
